Emma Callahan is an interdisciplinary performer, writer, and video artist raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her multi-genre work explores cultural borderlands and hauntologies in all shapes and forms. They’ve performed and produced shows at venues like La Mama Experimental Theater Club, Union Hall, 3 Dollar Bill, Baby’s All Right, Life World, Littlefield, The Tank, and a random basement in an Opera house in Bushwick. Her full-length play, FREE! TONIGHT!! has been read at the Drama League and Irish Repertory Theater in New York. They currently host the comedy shows Hey… Lol… with Michael Oluokun, and Family Friends with Anne Lim. They are the creative producer and write for the alternative & experimental late-night comedy show Jordan Show.
She was the Lead Director for 8 Ball Community TV, was a community member of the live experimental multimedia collective Phase Space, contributed as an interviewer to the A/P/A Voices COVID-19 oral history project, and worked as crew on live comedy shows like Chris Gethard Presents and The Special without Brett Davis. When they were very small, they were named “The Funniest High School Comedy Writer” by NPR’s Studio 360, and BJ Novak.
She was a 2023-24 Performance Project Fellow at University Settlement. Their new play, first date, is at The Brick as a part of !? New Works Festival 2025.
